Dear AP Parents and Students:
I wanted to let you know about some exciting changes to our advanced placement program. This year I have added a new age division, and classes will be as follows:

* 6-8 years (Thursday 4:30-6:30) Tuition $65 per month

* 9-12 years (Tuesday 4-6:30) Tuition $85 per month

* 13 + years (Monday 6-8:45) Tuition $100 per month

Parents please remember your monthly tuition pays not only for the advanced placement program but also for UNLIMITED classes!

This year, I will be scheduling two workshops for AP students with professionals in the dance industry. These instructors will be from coast to coast (from New York and LA)!! The first workshop will be scheduled for October and the second workshop will be scheduled for April. Both workshops will be MANDANTORY for all AP students (workshop fees will be $45 each). I will let you know the dates when classes resume.

As always AP students have the opportunity to join our performing arts competition group. This year we will be holding auditions for competition group placement. This will be a most exciting competition year.

See you in September with your hair pulled back, leotards and dance shoes on, and ready for a great year of dance!!

Competition Criteria

Those advanced placement students ages 7+ who are interested in being a part of the performing arts competition company must audition for group placement. Therefore, students must have attended the summer intensive or the fall intensive workshop. During the intensive sessions students will learn the dance routines that will be used for the audition.
All competition students will be a member of a group dance(s). If students are interested in competing as a soloist or part of a duo or trio, they must fill out an application prior to audition. Those who are interested in dancing as a soloist, must prepare a one minute routine of their choice to music of their choice. Their routine must be self-choreographed and should highlight dance techniques that they do well.
Auditions will be held. Students need to come to the audition with their hair secured up and away from their face and neck, dressed in a black leotard, pink tights for ballet, and black jazz pants for jazz.
The auditions will be judged by dance teachers outside of Lexington area. Judges will be determining group placement. The decision of the judges will be posted at the studio the week after auditions.
Competition rehearsals will be scheduled for Wednesdays beginning in October.

COMPETITION REHERSALS ARE MANDANTORY.

However, I understand circumstances and situations do arise. Therefore, all competition students will be allowed two rehearsal absences during the fall semester and two during the spring semester. Illness will be excused, however, if the student is not contagious, they should come to class to watch and learn new choreography, hear corrections or any changes. Competition students must attend all competitions. If at anytime students are not able to fulfill such commitment, then they will no longer be a part of the competition group.

COMPETITION TRAVEL

This year our performing arts competition company will travel to:

Ø To be announced and posted. Ø We will schedule a parent meeting in October to discuss details of competitions along with cost and expenses involved. Parents will pay a monthly competition rehearsal fee of $35 (October-May). There will be an additional charge for all solos, duos and trios. The one last detail for competition students will be that everyone participating will sign a contract of commitment. If students are not able to keep their commitment then they will no longer participate as a member of the performing arts company.

Competition is a learning experience, it's the knowledge that we gain not necessarily the trophies that we win that makes us better dancers. I want everyone to strive to reach their full potential and have a great time in the process. I'm excited about the wonderful year of dance that lies ahead!!

I agree to fulfill this commitment to the best of my ability. If at anytime, I do not, I understand that I will no longer be able to participate as a member of Traci Stone's Dance Connection Performing Arts Company.
